Once again she is rescued by Bernard d'Andijos.
Her brother Father Raymond de Sancé pays her a visit.
The trial against Joffrey has started.
Angélique is always present in the court-house.
When she hears the verdict she becomes unwell, Joffrey is sentenced to burn at the stake.

Barcarole, a scoundrel takes her to 'La Cour des Miracles'.
There she discovers Nicolas is Calembredaine, leader of 'La Cour des Miracles'. She asks him to rescue Joffrey, he agrees, but only if she will stay with him. Angélique reluctantly gives in.
They set out to rescue Joffrey, but they are too late. They have to save Angélique from the soldiers of the king and take her back to 'La Cour des Miracles'.
